Your Crew Report – Crew Win!

For those who don’t know, I was born in Columbus Ohio, at the hospital on the Ohio State Campus. So for me, a soccer club in my birthplace is great. Now I’ll also be the first to admit, I’ve really never followed them, but will look in on a match or two. Because of so many games online yesterday, I’ve had to re watch the highlights online. And this is something I gotta give the MLS credit for, you don’t have to search all over the web, and various news sites for game recaps, you can just hit up a club’s website and find their highlights. Well, unless you are a Philadelphia Union supporter, than you just want to fire the management.

They won 2-1, with two first half goals to beat Chicago 2-1. The Crew (5-4-3, 18 points) pulled even in the Eastern Conference standings with the Fire (5-4-3, 18).

The two first half goals from Eddie Gaven and Emilio Rentería put the Fire back on their heals, and caused them to slump to defeat.

General thoughts on the match:

It was a very difficult game for us because of the two previous games and the travel.  We actually started the game pretty well. The first have was pretty good. We moved the ball. Second half (the Fire) just pushed us in the box and we defended the troubles on the corner kicks. We probably could have scored more goals, but Bernardo’s (Anor) shot hit the crossbar and Emilio(Renteria) nearly had one in front in the first half.  We did what we had to do and we won the game.

On the results of three games in seven days:

Especially going against San Jose and Seattle away from home, we had to travel across the country. So yes, I would like to say it was a good week for us.
