Ebbsfleet United Keeper Preston Edwards back between the Sticks at Stonebridge Road.

Ebbsfleet United Football Club are pleased to announce that their England C Goalkeeper Preston Edwards is signing another contract with us for the coming season.

Liam Daish said “I’m really pleased to have Preston back with me. He undertook surgery prior to the end of the season, having played with a niggling injury for much of the season. It is really good news that he is making a good recovery and is already back in light training. Preston is a very important member of the squad”

Jessica McQueen Chairman of EUFC said “Having Preston back is brilliant news. He is a larger than life character and good to have in and around the club. Having him back for another year, together with the three players we have already signed is wonderful”

MyFootballclub Society Board Member Dario Szibbun from Germany added, “Preston Edwards has proved that he is an important part of our Squad. Signing him for the upcoming season is a fantastic signal to the other squad players. Our fans will be happy to see him again next season at Stonebridge Road.”

MyFootballclub Chairman Keith Handley, commented “More great work by Liam in securing Preston services for another season. Preston always interacts with the fans and members via twitter and this helps to feel even more involved with this great club. Members are very proud when he and other players at the club have represented their countries at International level. It all adds to the feeling that we are a worldwide family club. Members and fans recently contributed towards the cost of a recent operation on Preston’s Ankle and so will be delighted that he is staying with us.”

A highly-rated young goalkeeper while at Millwall, Preston came through the youth ranks into the first-team squad. While at The New Den he was sent on loan to Dover, featuring in the club’s 2008-09 Ryman Premier title. He rejected Millwall’s offer of a new contract and joined Grays Athletic for 2009-10, playing twice against the Fleet that season. Following a successful trial, Liam Daish snapped him up in the summer of 2010 to fill the boots of Gillingham-bound Lance Cronin. He did that and more in a tremendous season, playing no small part in helping guide the Fleet towards play-off promotion from the Blue Square South . He also became a world-record holder and an overnight internet sensation after a 10th-second sending-off against Farnborough in 2010-11. Preston has been capped by England at U19 level, where he played alongside Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge, and capped a great 2010-11 by winning his first England C cap against Portugal. The Internet Community MyFootballclub are 75% owners of Ebbsfleet United since members purchased the stake in February 2008.
