Personal Growth and Soccer

Part of my personal grown over the past year has been to develop my writing, and online presence more. Due to various things that have happened in life, I figured this was a good time to see if I could launch the media career that I wanted in college. For those who do not know, I went to the University of Kansas for Journalism.  With the economy going into the tubes, and life moving on, I never got back to the media career, not that my life has been bad. Far from it in fact. Well, this blog was launched as a way to get into writing, again.

Well that’s worked, and I want to thank the great sport. Many times over the past year, when I’ve been down, or not wanted to do anything, I’ve flipped on a game, or started writing. And walla! My mood stabilizes. Plus, if you follow me on twitter @fakestevebrandt, you see that I guest on a couple soccer shows during the week. Sometimes the game, and the shows are the best way to make my week. Talking, writing, thinking about the sport is the best drug that there is out there.

I’m not trying to make this a blog that is “woe is me” because let’s face it, my life is pretty damn good, and just have the normal stressers in life that everyone has. But what I have found that is that when there is an opportunity for me to write or think about the sport, I do.

So this is almost a love note to the sport, and the writing community. I want to thank you for being there, and continue being there. I know that I’ll be able to repay you.
